Thought I'd read some about the saints it being Easter time. Knew little about Jude before other than him being the patron saint of lost causes. Not much mentioned of him in the Bible, so to have these accounts from alternate sources made for an interesting read. Tales of him healing King Abgar of Syria, joining with St. Peter to miraculously grow a farmer's field of crops as if overnight, and outwitting palace sorcerers had me in awe tho the author states readers may decide for themselves which texts they find most compelling. Book needs a little tighter editing as it confused Jude with John at the midway point, but otherwise an engaging read overall and if you're in need of a prayer to St, Jude there is a collection of seven at the close that can easily be accessed by handy links from the table of contents. Was a good read for me worth discussing with others and moving on to reading about Fatima next.Product details

I love how the author lays it out and has you read it with a pinch of salt. The historic accounts are fascinating backed up with historic references that I trust like Eusebius.
There are at least four people in the Bible who are possibly considered to be Saint Jude. Using this information, and extra canonical stories, the life of Saint Jude is crafted and told briefly here. As with most books in this series the prayers at the end of the book are worth the price of the book itself.
I found the stories written in this book infantile. True miracles is one thing but I couldn't see St. Peter and St. Jude doing or saying what was recorded in this book.
This is an interesting read on Saint Jude in the early disciples of the church. If references miracles places he visited his kinship with Peter and his closeness to Jesus. Overall it is a very good read. It also gives a number of prayers to Saint Jude at the end of the book
This is a brief description of a saint and one of the original apostles of Jesus. Much of what is told in the book is from legends. Considering the time that Saint Jude lived and the fact that he has only one brief epistle recognized as included in the New Testament, it is understandable that little is known about him that can be considered reliable. Never the less it was an interesting book to read.
Most Christians know Saint Jude as an apostle, the patron saint of a famous hospital, and as being "not the Iscariot." This book from Wyatt North presents what is known about Jude, mostly tales of miracles, church building, conversions, and show downs with sorcerers and priests of heathen gods. Admittedly, some of the stories are allegorical or apocryphal, but they give us an idea of what the chroniclers of the Early Church thought about the man and his work. At the book's conclusion, Wyatt provides the prayers of Saint Jude for the faithful. And since Saint Jude is the patron saint of hopeless causes, it would not hurt for writers, artists and seekers after wisdom to learn a prayer or two...just in case.
This book is fairly short but is important to me as I have chosen St. JUDE as my patron saint.
I would suggest that someone who purchases it should have a decent understanding of the New Testament as there are a number of references used that contain real as well as legendary information. Though some information is certainly apocryphal ( of dubious truth ) it is still quite interesting and useful as a devotional booklet ( there are 7 nice prayers to St JUDE in the latter part of the book)'
